Hurricane Katrina
Aside from military conflicts, the Humvee has found itself utilized as a major tool for relief efforts in the face of many natural disasters, notably Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Known as one of the most dangerous and deadly hurricanes in recent history, Hurricane Katrina’s relief missions brought in countless Humvees to deliver much needed supplies, including food and water for thousands of displaced Americans in the South. Aside from supply efforts, the National Guard ran transport missions as well as power and water restoration efforts. The need was there, and the Humvee was ready to answer the call.
