SOUTH BEND, Ind., May 29, 2024 – AM General, the leading manufacturer of light tactical vehicles and mobility systems, held the dedication of its new JLTV A2 service and parts facility at their Aftermarket Fulfillment and Training Center (AFTC) today. The company also recognized South Bend Community High School Construction Trades students who undertook the construction of the Guard House for the facility.  The expansion nearly doubles the size of the Aftermarket facility and will create additional jobs by the end of the year.

“We are so proud to launch this new facility in South Bend,” sand Jim Cannon, AM General President and CEO. “We have been in the South Bend area for over 160 years, starting with building wagons during the Civil War, to delivering Jeeps, 2 ½ ton trucks, the iconic HUMVEE vehicles, and now JLTV A2. Our legacy of building quality vehicles for the Warfighter will endure with the new JTLV A2 and this facility is a testament to our commitment to the U.S. Military and its Allies as we help sustain vehicles throughout their entire lifecycle.”

The South Bend Community School Corporation’s Career and Technical Education Program (CTE) prepares and trains students for a variety of high-skilled and in-demand professions. The CTE program was key when it came to building the guard house. This project highlights the collaboration between AM General and the South Bend community by providing students with a real-world experience as they learn about different trades and the value of a trades career. The ceremony recognized the students involved in the project and a plaque placed in the guard honors their support.

On hand for the commemoration were Representative Rudy Yakym of Indiana’s First District and South Bend Mayor James Mueller, as well as local council leadership and members of Senator Braun’s and Senator Young’s offices.
